🍂🎬 Every Real Book-to-Screen Adaptation Landing This Fall 2026

Fall has always been prime adaptation season, but this year the lineup is almost overwhelming in the best way. Classics, thrillers, spy dramas, gothic horror — if it started life on a page, chances are it's heading to a screen near you in the next few months. Here's everything confirmed so far, in the order it's arriving.

📖 September Openers

Practical Magic 2 kicks things off September 11, with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman reprising their Owens sisters roles alongside Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing, joined by newcomers Joey King, Lee Pace, and Maisie Williams. 

That same week, Netflix's new Pride and Prejudice arrives with Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet and Jack Lowden as Mr. Darcy. — an exact date is still missing , but Netflix has confirmed a fall window.

Also this month: Apple TV's spy drama Slow Horses returns for season six on September 16, adapting Mick Herron's Joe Country and Slough House with Gary Oldman back as the deliciously bad-tempered Jackson Lamb.

Two days later, Mikhail Bulgakov's The Master and the Margarita finally gets a proper U.S. theatrical release on September 18, bringing the acclaimed Russian-language adaptation to American audiences for the first time.

And on MGM+, a new four-part A Tale of Two Cities premiered September 6, with Kit Harington playing both lookalikes at the heart of Dickens's classic love triangle.

Rounding out the month: The Love Hypothesis, Ali Hazelwood's fake-dating rom-com, streams on Prime Video September 23 with Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman, and Victorian Psycho — the gleefully unhinged gothic thriller based on Virginia Feito's novel — hits theaters September 25, starring Maika Monroe as a governess with a very dark secret.

🎃 October Arrivals

October opens with Florence Pugh leading Netflix's East of Eden, a seven-episode adaptation of Steinbeck's sweeping generational saga, streaming from October 1. Colleen Hoover fans get Verity in theaters October 2, with Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett bringing the twisty thriller to life.

Daisy Edgar-Jones follows as Elinor Dashwood in a new Sense and Sensibility — UK audiences see it September 25, while the U.S. release date has not confirmed.

Later in the month, two very different fantasies land the same week: Jenna Ortega stars in Klara and the Sun, Taika Waititi's adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's quietly devastating novel, and Laika's stop-motion Wildwood — based on Colin Meloy's book — brings a hidden magical forest to life, both arriving October 23.

🏹 The November Finale

Suzanne Collins closes out the season on November 20 with Sunrise on the Reaping, following a teenage Haymitch Abernathy through the Second Quarter Quell. Joseph Zada leads a cast that includes Whitney Peak, Jesse Plemons, Ralph Fiennes, and Glenn Close.

Thirteen adaptations, three months, and not a single slow weekend between them. Whatever you're currently reading, there's a good chance it'll be on your screen before the year is out — which might be the best excuse yet to finally read the book first.
