Fourth Wing Has Officially Been Ordered as a Prime Video Series 🐉✨

THANH VY VUONG

 Hello, lovely rider 🐉

We have been waiting for this confirmation. And on May 11, 2026, at Amazon's annual Upfront presentation in New York City, it finally came — announced on stage by none other than Michael B. Jordan himself, standing alongside Rebecca Yarros, Meredith Averill, and Lisa Joy.

Fourth Wing has officially been ordered as a series for Prime Video.

Navarre is coming to our screens. Basgiath War College is being built. Violet Sorrengail's story — the one that 36 million readers have lived inside — is about to become something the whole world can watch.

Take a breath. And then let's talk about everything we know. 🌿

📺 The Official Announcement

Amazon MGM Studios announced the series order during its annual Upfront presentation in New York City on May 11, 2026. The fantasy series is based on Rebecca Yarros' bestselling Empyrean novels and will be adapted for television by Meredith Averill.

Michael B. Jordan, whose production company Outlier Society is behind the adaptation, made the announcement on stage — then introduced fellow executive producer Lisa Joy, showrunner Meredith Averill, and Yarros herself. Four of the most important people in this project, standing on one stage, making it real.

This is not a development deal. This is not a pilot commitment. This is a full series order. Fourth Wing is happening.

🎬 The Team Behind It — and Why It Matters

The creative team assembled for this adaptation is, genuinely, one of the most impressive in recent fantasy television. Let's talk about each of them.

✍️ Meredith Averill — Showrunner & Executive Producer

Meredith Averill is known for her work on The Haunting of Hill House, Locke & Key, and Wednesday, and will serve as both showrunner and executive producer.

This is the person who will shape the entire tone and vision of the series — and her track record is extraordinary. The Haunting of Hill House understood how to make emotional horror feel deeply human. Wednesday demonstrated a gift for dark, witty, atmospheric world-building that translates beautifully to a young adult sensibility. Locke & Key proved she could take a beloved, complex fantasy source material and build it faithfully for screen.

Averill herself has spoken about what draws her to this project: "The emotional stakes are sky high, the battles are epic, the power dynamics are thrilling, and underneath it all is so much humour and heart and a romance that will consume you."

She gets it. She genuinely gets it.

🎥 Lisa Joy — Pilot Director & Executive Producer

Lisa Joy, co-founder of Kilter Films and executive producer on Fallout, is set to direct the pilot episode. Jonathan Nolan and Athena Wickham will also executive produce through Kilter Films.

Lisa Joy directing the first episode is significant. The pilot sets the visual language, the tone, the pace, and the emotional register of the entire series. Having someone of her calibre shape that first impression — with the world-building experience of Westworld and Fallout behind her — gives every reader cause for considerable optimism.

🎭 Michael B. Jordan — Executive Producer

Michael B. Jordan and Elizabeth Raposo will executive produce through Outlier Society, the production company that has been developing this project for over two and a half years.

Jordan has spoken publicly about his commitment to avoiding "obvious choices" in casting — which, for a fandom that has spent two years imagining who could possibly play Violet and Xaden, is exactly the kind of statement that makes the imagination run very fast in very interesting directions.

📖 Rebecca Yarros — Executive Producer

Yarros herself is on board as executive producer — which means the person who built Navarre, who knows every corridor of Basgiath War College and every shade of Xaden Riorson's character, has a seat at the table.

Amazon MGM Studios and Outlier Society originally acquired the rights to the books in a heated auction around the time of the first novel's May 2023 release. The plan, in success, is to adapt the rest of the novels over multiple seasons.

Five books. Multiple seasons. A universe with room to breathe and grow.

🌙 What We Don't Know Yet — and What's Coming

There is still much to be revealed. No cast has been announced. No premiere date has been confirmed. The series is not expected to release before 2027.

But what we have — a series order, a showrunner of extraordinary pedigree, a visionary director on the pilot, and the author herself producing — is already more than many beloved book series have ever received. The foundation is exceptional.

Cast announcements are the next major milestone to watch for. And when they come, the fandom is going to have thoughts.

🐉 Wear Navarre While You Wait

The wait for casting news, production updates, and eventually the show itself is going to be long — and we think it should be spent in the most bookish, most rider-coded way possible.

Our officially licensed Fourth Wing collection was made for exactly this moment. The riders of Basgiath War College deserve fans who show up in full uniform. Whether you're re-reading the series before the adaptation arrives or simply want to mark this historic announcement in wearable form — we have you covered.

The Empyrean is coming. And we will be watching.
