Peculiar Star Isn't Even Out Yet — And Apple TV Already Wants It
THANH VY VUONGShare
Hello, lovely reader —
Some authors get a book deal. Rebecca Yarros gets a bidding war before her book is even on shelves. That's exactly what happened this week, and the whole bookish internet is talking about it.
The Deal 🤝
Apple TV has acquired the rights to Peculiar Stars, the upcoming romance novel from Rebecca Yarros — the author behind the record-breaking Empyrean series. According to Deadline, the acquisition came after a competitive situation with multiple studios and producers pursuing the project, and Apple came out on top. Apple Studios will develop the book into a television series, with Yarros herself serving as executive producer through her production company, Full Measures Productions.
A writer has not yet been attached to the adaptation, so it's still early days — but the fact that a screen deal exists before the novel has even been published says a lot about where Yarros currently sits in publishing and Hollywood alike.

What We Know About Peculiar Stars 🏝️
Unlike Fourth Wing, this one leaves the dragons behind. Peculiar Stars is a contemporary romance about a woman stranded on a deserted island with a member of her fiancé's family after a cyclone — and how survival unravels everything she thought she understood about love. Once they're rescued, the story follows them back into a world of privilege, expectation, and secrets that turn out to be more dangerous than the island itself.
The novel is currently available for pre-order and is set to publish on November 17.
Why It Matters 🐉
Yarros has quietly become one of the most sought-after names in book-to-screen adaptations. Fourth Wing is already in development at Amazon MGM Studios, and several of her other novels are being adapted elsewhere across the industry. Peculiar Stars joins that growing list — proof that her pull now extends well beyond the Empyrean fandom.
For those of us who found Yarros through Violet, Xaden, and the wingleaders of Basgiath, it's worth remembering where the obsession started. If you're still living in your Empyrean era (no judgment — most of us never left), our Rebecca Yarros Collection has pieces made for exactly that kind of loyalty.
