Amazon MGM Studios has picked up the project for development, with Daphne Ferraro — known for her work as head writer on the first season of Maxton Hall — attached as creator and showrunner. Lauren Roberts herself is coming aboard as an executive producer, alongside Will Gluck's Olive Bridge Productions. The first season is set to follow the events of the first novel, meaning Paedyn's story as an Ordinary hiding in plain sight among the Elites of Ilya, the Purging Trials, and her complicated pull toward Prince Kai will be the starting point.

For anyone who hasn't read it yet: Powerless follows Paedyn Gray, an Ordinary living without powers in a kingdom ruled by Elites, who makes her living posing as a psychic and pickpocketing to survive. When she accidentally saves the life of Prince Kai, she's thrown into the Purging Trials — a brutal, high-stakes competition — and forced to keep her true identity hidden while the tension between them builds.
